600 pound man cut home - A man weighing several hundred pounds was cut from his home by emergency crews using chainsaws. A hazmat team was brought to the house because it was "deemed too toxic" for firefighters to enter. The man was eventually brought out and transported to a hospitaHazmat crews were called to help rescue a 600-pound man from his Pennsylvania home Monday afternoon.
Crews at the scene said they had to cut a hole through the side of the home to get him out because they couldn't get through the clutter inside his house to get to him.

A flatbed truck was used to drive the man from his house to an ambulance. He was in need of medical attention and had to be transported to a local hospital.The entire ordeal lasted hours.Neighbors like Lee Hanyo said they were just glad to see the man was alive.

"It's very sad and shouldn't have come to that, but at least they got him out and he's alright," Hanyo said. "That's all that really matters."

Officials said the man, whose name has not been released, will need extensive medical care but is expected to survive.

An Upper Burrell Township, Pennsylvania man had to have a hole cut in his home so he could get out on Monday. The man's weight and the clutter in his home left fire crews no choice.At 600 pounds, it takes a rather large hole to get a person out of their home, when they don't fit through the door any longer. WXPI reported on the man who was cut from his home by firefighters and a HazMat crew who had to cut through both siding and a brick wall to get the man out and onto a waiting flatbed truck.

The crews were unable to get to the man in the normal way due to the clutter in the home, which would have also prevented an easy egress back out with what would have been a difficult load to carry.The man at this time has remained anonymous and unnamed by authorities but was in need of medical attention. One neighbor stated:“It’s very sad and shouldn’t have come to that, but at least they got him out and he’s alright,” (Lee) Hanyo said. “That’s all that really matters.”The process took several hours and the flatbed truck was only used to get the man to a waiting ambulance for the trip to the hospital and the medical care he needed.

It took the combined efforts of police, fire department, Hazmat unit and EMTs to finally get a 600-pound man in need of medical attention out of his Pennsylvania home.

The extremely obese man was stuck in his own home, but needed to get to the hospital, reported WPXI-TV of Pittsburgh.

“The police came and knocked all the windows out, but they didn’t hear from him,” neighbor Lee Hanyo told a reporter for the NBC affiliate.

Then came the fire department, followed by Hazmat personnel because it was “deemed too toxic to go in for the fire department,” Hanyo added.

Rescue crews then used electric chain saws to cut through the side of the home in Upper Burrell Township in southwestern Pennsylvania.Using a pulley system, EMT crews lifted the 600-pound man out of his home and placed him on a flatbed truck, which drove him to an ambulance waiting to deliver him to the hospital, the NBC affiliate reports

“It shouldn’t have to come to that,” Hanyo told the local TV station. “But at least they got him out and he’s all right.”
