Mexican car described as ‘lazy, feckless, flatulent’ by Top Gear team

Mexican car described as ‘lazy, feckless, flatulent’ by Top Gear team – A host of the popular show ‘Top Gear’ described the Mexican car and people as ‘lazy, feckless, and flatulent’ on a recent show. Needless to say, this didn’t go over well when it became known by authorities in the UK representing the Mexican people. In fact, it was the Mexican ambassador in London that made the complain formally to the BBC. He called the comments “xenophobic” and “offensive”.

Ambassador Eduardo Medina-Mora Icaza has demanded an apology from Richard Hammond on the air over the BBC network. The Top Gear show is one of the more popular shows on the station and draws millions of viewers.

But when the discussion of a Mexican car came up on the show, things didn’t go well from there. They were discussion the Mexican sports car, the Mastretta. This is when Hammond said: “”Why would you want a Mexican car? Because cars reflect national characteristics don’t they?” He continued with, “Mexican cars are just going to be lazy, feckless, flatulent, overweight, leaning against a fence asleep looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat.”

As if this wasn’t enough, the co-host Clarkson, who has been criticized for making offensive comments on the programme, went on to describe Mexican food as “refried sick.” You might have thought they stopped there, but continued yet again. Saying on Sunday’s show there would be no complaints this time because the Mexican ambassador would: “be sitting there with a remote control like this,”. The presenter pretended to slump in a chair, snoring.

This is just proof that everyone on television is not intelligent and bigotry still exist in the world. The BBC said that more than 500 people have called in to complain about the comments that have been made.

The BBC said: “We have received a letter from the Mexican ambassador, and shall respond to him directly.”

Good for the BBC. Hopefully, they will take it one step further and fire these bastards for making such remarks. Sometimes organizations have to take a stance against nonsense like this. People must understand their words carry consequences. You cannot go around just offending people because you have a microphone and are on television.

I understand the point of the Top Gear show is entertainment, but that can be done with some decency. If they didn’t care for the Mexican sports car, then they could have just said so. There was no need to attack a whole people because of your racist viewpoints on the world around them. This narrow mindedness must never be accepted. I for one would like to see the BBC fire them from the show. I get that it is a popular show, but that is because of the name of the show, time slot on the BBC and their marketing, not the host. Maybe when they find themselves out on their butts, then they will get some respect.

At this point, we need to hear from you. Chime in and let us know what you think about the situation. What do you think the BBC should do? But most, tell us what you think about Mexican car described as ‘lazy, feckless, flatulent’ by Top Gear team.
